It is almost that time of the year when holiday decorations come out, homes have that sweet smell of baked goods, and family and friends gather together. With presents to buy and food to cook, it’s easy to get caught up in all the holiday hype.
This year, like the past 4 years, #GivingTuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (Nov 29) when people are asked to forget the commercialization of the holiday season, even for one day, and have it be a day of giving instead. #ILGive, specifically, is meant to engage Illinoisans and have them think about giving back to organizations within their communities.
Community is key! It is actually part of our mission – Empowering Parents * Nurturing Families * Strengthening Communities. That is why we exist! We accomplish that mission by providing home-based parent mentoring services and parenting education workshops so these parents and families can be truly engaged with each other and their community.
Our resources have been so successful that we have a waiting list with 91 families who want to be part of our parent mentoring services. We have hosted more parenting education workshops this year than in any year in the past!
This is a great problem to have, but we can’t do these things without your support. So we ask that when you consider giving on #GivingTuesday, consider Project HELP. We will remind you of the #ILGive initiative again before #GivingTuesday! As always, we thank you for your consideration and appreciate your support of Project HELP.
